The motto of this year’s Congress of Controllers 2022 was “Knowledge for Tomorrow’s Business”. Thus, the ICV Congress was all about networking among Controllers, Agility, Digital Transformation, AI and Sustainability. 400 participants were on site in Munich – plus a life-size mascot, our blue Smartofant, who distributed nougat chocolate from his treasure chest and conjured up a smile or two on their faces.
ICV CEO Heimo Losbichler opened the Congress of Controllers 2022 and immediately spoke about the current challenging and uncertain situation for companies. Inflation and supply bottlenecks on the raw materials and producer side, unstable supply chains and upcoming interest rate hikes were just a few of the issues. “It is all the more important to have controlling that faces these challenges and provides management support,” says Heimo Losbichler. Deutsche Post DHL Group received the ICV Controlling Excellence Awards for the topic “Integrating sustainability into controlling”.
On the subject of management support through an integrated planning system, we were able to have many interesting technical discussions on site at the smartPM.solutions booth. Main focus was on the difference between controlling technologies, how to approach connected planning, and business knowledge transfer in implementation projects. We would like to thank our interlocutors again for the good feedback on our approach: 1) using several market-leading Controlling technologies and selecting the best platform, depending on the use case and 2) Consultants with Finance background, who understand requirements immediately and also support with change management.
Following the Congress of Controllers 2022, the ICV expert group event “Digital Controlling Competence took place, this time with a focus on “Risk Management and Controlling”. The exclusive expert club of controllers helps all members with the implementation of digitization projects in controlling. Pioneers in the process are on hand with advice and action and show the possibilities and potential of new Controlling technologies (CPM & BI), tools and Controllers’ skills. The network is growing and there is great interest in the hands-on expert events of the Digital Controlling Competence expert group – the number of participants is limited. A podcast for CFOs and controllers on the mission of the expert group Digital Controlling Competence was also recorded during the Congress of Controllers, which should be available shortly. As soon as we have access to it, you will know.
